Yvette Galisheff woke up to a message from her sister saying that her 95 year old mother had died in a fire in her Toronto Seniors Building.
Her mother, elaine Emile was in her kitchen on oct. 5 when the fire broke out.
The Toronto fire department found the body at 8 a.m. that morning. they also saw signs of a fire but the fire was out when they got there.
The Toronto fire department didn’t say that there was a building-wide fire alarm in the night and that the firefighters went and determined that there was nothing wrong
For Galisheff the fact that the firefighters were in the building but didnt find her mom has become the most upsetting part for her.
“It brings tears to my eyes because my, you know she could have been just burning and she couldn’t put out the flames” she said
Ontario’s office of the chief coroner said it has opened an investigation into Emile’s death.
